The Alkari are a loosely organized tribe that inhabits the mountains, plains and forests. They are mild-mannered compared to the other tribes of Crinos. Among Verdimm, they are known to be well-tempered and slow to anger. When angered Alkari are extremely dangerous. They also rarely forget or forgive an enemy and hold a grudge unto death -- of themselves, or the enemy.
The Alkari, for the most part, are loners who prefer their solitude. They only gather in large groups during times of trouble or for celebrations. During these times the Alkari will partake in ritual combat to choose a leader. This individual will serve until he or she falls from Luna's grace, proves themselves weak/incompetent or the event which caused the gathering has passed. The rest of the time they stay in small close-knit groups or wander on their own.
Among the Verdimm, they are closest to the Ekli'in and deal with them a lot. In general the Alkari respect and admire the views of the Ekli'in though they do not follow them. Alkari will usually go to the aid of an Ekli'in who is in trouble.
Many Alkari are quite good at magic though they use little if any combat magic. They prefer to use their own natural abilities in battle. Most of their magic is used to make life easier, communication or to insure privacy though some elders know a good deal of lore and ritualistic magics learned from the Ekli'in.
The forms among the Alkari are generally assumed at need for a variety of purposes though many prefer to use the Dimoh form for social gathering and mating. The Khiulnter form is used for long distance travel and grazing though it is sometimes used for ritual combat or when one wants to be left alone. The Dimo-khu form is generally reserved for combat or travel in hostile areas.
Dimoh: The Alkari tend to be above average height and well built. Most have fair skin, dark colored hair, and brown or green eyes. The average height of an Alkari in dimoh form is 6' 4" and weight is between 175-200 pounds. They usually wear their hair long and dress in little clothing, mostly furs and leathers of various earthy colors.
Khiulnter: This form is that of a large moose. They usually measure about 6' at the shoulder are covered with coarse brown or tan fur. Males and females have a huge rack of flat antlers.
Dimo-Khu: This form is a blend of man and moose. They have the muscular torso and legs of a human, covered in coarse brown or tan fur. There are hooves where feet would be while their nails are thick and blunt. It has the head and neck of an evil or demonic moose including a huge rack of nasty antlers. They average about 10' in height though Alkari in this form have been known to reach the 18' mark.
