I play a lot of computer games and console games (consoles being things like the PlayStation and GameCube).
I have a list of arcade video games that I'm working through and moving ones I remember liking to the top.
Some of my all-time favorites:
I adored Populus and Populus II. The latter has probably taken up more of my time than any other single game to this day, although Total Annihilation and Diablo II or up there as well.
PowerMonger was also very good.
It is worth noting that I was highly disappointed by Black And White; same designer, same concept. The basic issues appear to be that the campaign game kept punishing you for success, and there were only like 5 skirmish maps. Maybe less.
If Black & White had shipped with a random land generator, or a hundred lands, or something like that, so I could have just played and played and played like I did with Populus and Populus II, it might very well have been my favorite game of all time.
To be fair, I haven't tried the Creature Isle expansion yet.
I used to work on Stargrunt 40,000, a system to convert Warhammer 40,000 army lists into something that will work with the (vastly superiour) Stargrunt rules system. More information on Stargrunt and related games can be found at Ground Zero Games. Absolutely phenomenal rules systems, these games. I also have constructed an errata page for the Stargrunt II rules based on some correspondence with the author.
These aren't likely to be updated in the near future because I lost a bunch of miniatures in the move to California, including all the painted ones but one (OK, so there were only like 5, but still) so now I'm really bitter.
Update: As it turns out, I seem to have found most of the miniatures I thought I was missing. I still haven't found time to play, or anyone to play with, but who knows what the future holds.
